Plandek enables you to manage multiple aspects of your Jira integrations and the data gathered and displayed in the product. Below we'll cover the main areas of the configuration, but if you have any questions please give us a shout.
Jira Board Selection
On this tab, you will see a list of boards that are currently available to load into Plandek. Please note that this list is based on the boards that the user has access to (read-only is all that's required), so if you don't see a specific board that you're after, please check the permissions for the user.
You can add/remove boards by scrolling through the list or using the search feature in the top right. Once you tick (or untick) the relevant boards, you will need to click save in the bottom right. The gatherers will then begin to run, and you should see the board and it's data become available in the product as soon as the data has gathered. This can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes typically, based on the amount of tickets on the board.
One of the more powerful features in Plandek is the ability to select additional custom fields that you'd like to load into the product. These are extremely useful as additional ways to breakdown and filter the data in metrics, enabling you to improve your focus on the relevant data.
When you load the page, it will show a list of the fields that Plandek is currently gathering. You can remove them at any point by clicking the delete icon on the right side. To add more, simply click "Add Custom Field" in the top right. You'll be presented with three options:
Name: this is the name of the field as you'd like it to appear in Plandek
Field: this is a dropdown of all available fields currently in Jira. Simply select the one you'd like to pull into the tool.
Type: there are two options available, Text and Number.
Text: the data within the field may contain any form of alphanumeric values, and as such we will treat it as plain text as it relates to the handling and display within the product
Number: the data within the field will always be a numeric value (i.e. never containing alphabetic values).
If you select Number as the type, you will be presented with an additional option: Do you want this field to be a unit of measurement?
This enables you to add this custom field as a value that can be calculated within the metrics. For example, if you have a Time Spent field, you can add this as a custom field and make it a unit of measurement, which means that Time Spent will appear as an option in certain metrics like Tickets Completed so that you can sum the time spent on all completed tickets within a time range. This can also be useful with Value Points, Time Remaining (for open tickets), and Business Value (the use cases are endless really).
If you tick 'yes' to unit of measurement, you'll be asked, "Is this a duration field?" If you're using a time based field, please tick this box, as it will instruct Plandek to treat the values in the field as time and then be able to intelligently update times according to what's appropriate in the metrics (e.g. translating seconds to days in the UI). We will then ask for the "Unit of Duration," which is the base unit for time (e.g. data values are in seconds).
Once you've applied all the relevant settings, click save. Plandek will then re-run all gatherers to pull this data from each ticket across the respective boards. This may take some time depending on the history, size and amount of boards you have. It's hard to provide an estimate, but be patient and check back periodically. Once available, the data will appear as an option in the breakdowns, filters and calculation options in the metric settings.
Story Points Override
Many clients use a different, custom field instead of the default story point (SP) field in Jira. If that's the case for you, please update this setting so that we know where to find SPs (or which field to treat as the right field when measuring SPs).
Credentials (Password change)
