Dashboards are the easiest way to organise a group of metrics around a particular area, topic or challenge (or however you'd like them organised). Dashboards are unique to each workspace and are visible to everyone who has access to the workspace.

The information below explains how to create and manage your dashboards, convert them into templates that can be shared across your organisation, and there is also a quick video at the end if you'd like to see them in action.

Create a new dashboard

Once you have created a workspace, you can create a dashboard via the "Manage Dashboards" link in the lefthand navigation of the workspace. Click Create a new Dashboard in the top right, give your dashboard a name and description, and click create.

Your dashboard will now show on the left side of the screen under the workspace name and you will see this view:

Click Add a Metric and you'll be presented with the menu of metrics from which you can select the metrics you want to add to the dashboard. Metrics are categorised into groups to help you find the right metrics based on your area of focus (note: the metrics are dynamic and will show based on the data sources you have added to the workspace via the settings).

Simply click Add against the metric of choice and continue doing this until you are finished. Click Done to go back to the dashboard view. You are now ready to configure your metrics!

The dashboard can always be renamed by clicking on the 3 dots next to the dashboard name in the left-hand pane. You can also delete the dashboard from here.

Hide/Delete a Dashboard

In Manage Dashboards you can remove a dashboard by hovering over the name and clicking on the delete icon or X to delete/remove. If you don't want to delete it, you can hide the dashboard by clicking the "eye" icon on the left side of the dashboard name.

Using templates

You have the ability to convert a dashboard to a template so that other users in your organisation can quickly add them to their workspaces. This is particularly helpful if you have a few dashboards you want to encourage teams to use.

Once you have a dashboard that you want to convert to a template, just send us a message via the chat with the URL of the dashboard. We'll then convert that dashboard to a template (please note that the name and metrics settings will be copied exactly as they are, so you may way to make some tweaks ahead of converting them to a template).

Plandek templates

Out of the box, Plandek provides a few sample templates to help your explore the metrics and the tool. Since every organisation is different, you will likely need to update some of the settings of the metrics so that it fits the way you've configured your data (e.g. Jira statuses, issue types, and other custom fields that you may have added).

To explore and add one of the templates, click Manage Dashboards and on the lefthand side click Plandek templates. This will display a list of handy templates that you can use in your dashboards

Hover over the name and click the + sign on the right hand side. This will add that template to your dashboard.
